This side of the app has taken off and inspires watchers to get their own gardens started. Many of these garden influencers started their TikTok journey before the pandemic hit but saw a rise in their growth around the virus flare-up.

Marcus Bridgewater, also known as Garden Marcus, told Vogue he started his channel in December 2019. Once he saw growth on his videos in March and April of 2020, he realized his content brought positivity to those who needed it most right now, so he started creating more gardening videos.
Another gardening TikToker is Kevin Espiritu, also known as Epic Gardening. He started TikTok in December 2018 and went from getting a little over 1,000 likes on videos to having over 10,000 likes on many recent videos. He is TikTok verified, having a blue checkmark next to his name, and has over 700,000 followers.
And it’s not surprising that small creators on this app saw a sudden growth in their accounts in early 2020. On September 14, 2020, Forbes wrote an article explaining just how much growth TikTok has experienced. They reported that TikTok has grown 75% since the beginning of 2020 and is now the number one top-grossing app on iOS App Store.
